Call for Contributions – Muséon 2026

Muséon, the journal of the Jewish Museum of Belgium, is calling for contributions for its next issue, to be published in September 2026.

Since 2009, the journal has welcomed research devoted to the history, cultures, and expressions of Judaism, provided that contributions maintain an explicit connection with the museum’s collections, archives, heritage, or missions.

The September 2026 issue takes as its starting point the transformation of the museum, currently closed for renovation.

This period of transition is understood as a time of research, reflection, and projection. How does a museum, in a moment of transition and renewal, rethink its concrete practices in response to contemporary challenges? How does it question its narratives, its heritage choices, its place within Belgian society and within Jewish worlds?

Transformation is understood here as an ongoing process, through which the museum’s future orientations gradually take shape.

Contributions engaging with these questions, directly or indirectly, are particularly encouraged.

This thematic focus is not exclusive. Muséon also welcomes proposals based on the study of the Jewish Museum of Belgium’s collections and archives, as well as on the contextualization of Jewish heritage.
