Matrimony Days 2026
Jewish Women in the Marolles: A Walking Tour and a Look at Objects from the Collections of the Jewish Museum of Belgium
As part of the Matrimony Days, the Jewish Museum of Belgium invites you to discover Jewish women who have played an important role in the cultural, social and artistic history of Brussels.
The visit takes place in two parts: a walking tour through the Marolles, exploring their lives and stories, followed by a presentation at the museum of a selection of objects from the collections, specially curated for the Journées du Matrimoine.
Sculptures, writings and photographs will bring women artists, writers and photographers to the fore, while extending and enriching the stories discovered throughout the neighbourhood.
Bringing together the city, memory and women’s heritage, this tour offers a sensitive perspective on often little-known life stories and on the legacy these women have left in Brussels.
Through its collections, exhibitions and public programmes, the Jewish Museum of Belgium contributes to bringing to light stories and trajectories that have long remained in the shadows, particularly those of women. This tour is part of that approach, highlighting their contributions to the social, cultural, artistic and intellectual life of Brussels.
