{"id":10005,"date":"2024-10-21T14:10:27","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T12:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mjb-jmb.org\/?p=10005"},"modified":"2024-10-22T11:18:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T09:18:31","slug":"stolen-jewish-legacies-the-fate-of-the-andriesse-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mjb-jmb.org\/en\/stolen-jewish-legacies-the-fate-of-the-andriesse-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Stolen Jewish Legacies: The Fate of the Andriesse Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>\u201cStolen Jewish Legacies: The Fate of the Andriesse Collection\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>traces the lives and cultural impact of the Dutch-Belgian&nbsp;philanthropists and art patrons&nbsp;Hugo Daniel Andriesse (1867-1942) and his wife Eli\u00ad\u00adsabeth Andriesse (1871-1963).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Andriesses&nbsp;were socially prominent benefactors of charitable institutions in prewar Brussels&nbsp;who collected Old Master paintings and tapestries. Following their&nbsp;escape to New York in 1940, their collection of paintings and tapestries&nbsp;was&nbsp;looted by the Nazi occupation government in Belgium. Some of the collection remains missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Jewish Museum of Belgium undergoes renovation, the exhibition will be on view for a one-day presentation on <strong>November 7<sup>th<\/sup>, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Curated by the Jewish Digital Cultural Recovery Project Foundation (JDCRP), in cooperation with the Jewish Museum of Belgium and the Federal Public Service Economy (Economy Ministry of Belgium).
